BIO

Ella Walker (b.1993) is a London based artist. Her practice combines painting, drawing and fresco like mural installations, utilising various media including tempera, acrylic and ink. Her work explores medieval iconography and symbolism, she meshes surrealist imagery, medieval mystery, ritual and eroticism to create resplendent works, rich in narrative and colour.  Inspired by early modern costume, recent works have illustrated Walker’s allure to the sinister, or macabre. Incorporating props in unknown tales with mysterious agencies, inviting the viewer to make their own syntactic connections. Both allusive and elusive, her images refuse to lend the viewer an easy understanding.

Previous exhibitions include; Where the threads are worn, Casey Kaplan, 2021 (USA), Op.cit., A plus A, 2020 (IT), Untitled (But Loved), Bosse & Baum 2020 (UK), Cosmati Floor and Wax Fruit, Huxley-Parlour, 2020 (UK), Palazzo Monti Residency, curated by Katy Hessel, 2019 (IT)
